Privacy Policy

Kuber (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is handled when you use the app. The short version: your data stays on your device.

Information we collect

Kuber is designed as a local-first application.

We do not collect or share:

• Personal information (name, email, phone number)
• Financial data on external servers
• Location data
• Contacts or media files

Local data storage

All your data, such as transactions, accounts, categories and analytics, is stored locally on your device using secure local storage (the Isar database).

We do not transmit or store your data on any remote servers.

Biometrics

Kuber may use biometric authentication (such as fingerprint or face unlock) to secure access to the app.

• Biometric data is handled entirely by your device’s operating system.
• Kuber does not access, store, or share your biometric data.

Internet usage

Kuber may use internet access for app updates and future features if introduced. Currently, no personal or financial data is transmitted over the internet.

Third-party services

Kuber does not use third-party services that collect personal data.

Data security

Since all data is stored locally:

• You are responsible for securing your device.
• We recommend enabling device-level security (PIN, fingerprint, and similar).

SMS access (READ_SMS)

Kuber may request permission to read SMS messages stored on your device. This permission is used solely to detect bank and payment transaction notifications, such as debit and credit alerts sent by your bank, and to suggest them for import into your expense tracker.

What we read: Only SMS messages from recognised Indian bank and payment service sender IDs (for example, HDFCBK, SBIINB, ICICIB, AXISBK). We filter for transaction-related content only. We do not read personal messages, OTPs, or messages from unknown senders.

What we do with it: Detected transaction details (amount, type, date, and merchant name where available) are parsed locally on your device and displayed to you for review. You choose which transactions to import. Nothing is imported without your explicit approval.

What we do not do:

• We do not transmit any SMS content off your device.
• We do not store raw SMS messages anywhere in the app or its database.
• We do not share any SMS content with third parties, advertisers, or analytics services.
• We do not read SMS in the background. SMS reading happens only when you actively open the SMS Import screen.

How to revoke: You can revoke this permission at any time via Android Settings, then Apps, then Kuber, then Permissions, then SMS. Revoking this permission disables the SMS import feature but does not affect any other Kuber functionality.

Data deletion

You can delete your data by clearing app data from device settings, or by uninstalling the app. There is nothing to request from us. See the Data Deletion page for step-by-step instructions.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy in the future. Any changes will be reflected in this document.
